Aqua-Tech Recruitment are working with a leading client in the utilities industry who have an immediate requirement for a Business Development Manager based in Cumbernauld.

General Outline of the Post:

The primary role of the post holder is to develop leads and secure new business for the client and manage existing and new relationships with customers in the industrial/commercial and housing development sectors. The post holder will be expected to organise business development opportunities through visits and calls with potential customers controlling their own diary with targeted results. The post holder will be responsible for developing social media posts with input from the team as well as fielding enquiries from the website and other lead generating platforms. Although the engineering team will produce proposals and estimates the post holder is expected to input to them with insight into customer needs, trends or buying criteria.

  • Telecoms
  • Transport
  • Energy
  • Plant & Fleet

Key responsibilities, duties and tasks:

•           Develop opportunities with new and existing clients

•           Contact speculative clients to generate opportunities

•           Use their own contact list and relationships to gain project work

•           Reporting on a regular basis to the Managing Director with results and future planning

•           Plan business development strategies in conjunction with the MD and other group BD personnel

•           Organise the social media posts and client facing output for BD activity


•           Using Excel, Word, mail programmes etc to deliver / record documents

•           Liaising on a day-to-day basis with other team and group members

•           Always acting as a representative of the Company and ensure that the customer is completely satisfied

•           Undertaking client surveys and collating information on their likelihood to order from us again

•           Undertaking any other duties appropriate to the post objectives as required by the Company(appropriate to the level of the post)

Person Specification: Key competencies, Skills, Experience and/or Training Requirements:


•           Proven track record in a sales role within industrial/commercial sectors

•           Some understanding of water/wastewater engineered systems

•           Knowledge of sales techniques and a proven track record of such 

•           Can conform to shifting priorities, demands

•           Full clean driving licence


•           Good knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical disciplines
