Aqua-Tech Recruitment are working with an engineering company who have an immediate requirement for 2 experienced Electrical Project Engineers to work closely with the Project and Site Management teams and to be responsible for the co‐ordination and delivery of a range of projects in terms of values and complexity within the water industry.
The successful candidates will be working mainly direct to the client on MEICA (Minor and Major Works) framework projects, with the role split between office (Glasgow), home and pan Scotland travel.
Project Related Competencies
The Electrical Project Engineer role is to provide technical solutions for the electrical element of projects. To ensure the efficient delivery of the MEICA project elements whilst working in collaboration with all other departments associated with the project delivery and the clients management structure. They will be required to liaise with all project stakeholders in a professional manner and work progressively and consistently with other elements of the project team at all times to ensure successful project delivery.
Key responsibilities include: -
• The Electrical Project Engineer will be working alongside the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) department and other members of the project team and leadership to drive the successful delivery of projects to the highest standards.
• Manage the delivery of the electrical element of MEICA projects delivery to agreed time, cost & quality requirements to support the project delivery team and management team.
• The Electrical Project Engineer will provide support to the site technical delivery element of capital projects from conception, through design and procurement, to final handover ensuring that all technical deliverables are achieved. In accordance with current regulations and procedures.
• Provide technical interpretation of technical drawings and work packages to provide accurate estimates from sub-contractors. Providing support to the design function regarding installation issues and sub-contract evaluations.
• The Electrical Project Engineer will carry out sub-contractor liaison during the project Target and delivery pricing periods. Issuing tender and quotation request packages in support of the commercial and design teams to determine the most suitable and cost effective MEICA equipment and sub-contractor delivery function.
• Work with all other MEICA delivery team personnel to compile, update, manage and submit project specific documentation pertaining to the different project phases. Including (but not limited to) Defect and snagging lists, test documentation, Inspection and Test Plans, Training Plans, Asset data information, Red line drawing and “as built” updates. This is to include taking a lead role in producing and managing project documentation where required.
• The Electrical Project Engineer will liaise with both internal and external project stakeholders to provide a technical delivery prospective and ensure that both the client’s and the business needs are being met.
• If required; Provide support of the management of sub-contract labour on site, checking, appraising safe system of work documentation. Providing a client point of contact when sub-contract labour is present on site.
• The Electrical Project Engineer will liaise with the MEICA site personnel to provide input to the MEICA Manager with regards progress reports and programme plans.
• Provide support to the MEICA site personnel for the procurement of the electrical plant and equipment associated with individual projects. Ensure that all material Procurement Schedules are maintained and updated to provide a real time overview to the MEICA project team.
• Familiarise themselves with the MEICA standard templates produced for the project documentation and use this documentation correctly.
• Provide input to the commercial team in support off the MEICA function to ensure any scope changes, Early Warnings, Compensation Events and variations are captured immediately. Taking cognisance of the impact on project/program budgets.
• Preparing technical reports for the Management team where required.
Communication:-
• Attend and provide relevant input to Project and MEICA meetings. Acting as meeting Chairperson when required.
• Attend regular status meeting with the MEICA management team. Providing written and verbal reports as required.
• Deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations as required. Relating to electrical installation progress and business-related requirements.
• Provide mentoring and support to other members of the MEICA project team.
• Provide input to the project team to help resolve and/or escalate project issues in a timely fashion.
• Provide active support to the contract management team driving the project forward whilst embracing innovation and alternate ways of working.
• Apply engineering solutions to ensure best safe practice to improve performance
• Advise and monitor performance during installation and commissioning phases in support of the project site team. Producing and managing technical records and reports.
• Liaise directly with the MEICA site personnel to assist with the successful delivery of the MEICA construction programmes.
• Liaise with all project stakeholders internally and externally to the client, to ensure that the MEICA element of project delivery aligns with the overall project delivery targets.
• Have an understanding of High Voltage and Low Voltage distribution and switching systems.
Leadership:-
• Provide a visible Health & Safety example to others at all times. Including providing briefings and safety toolbox talks.
• Support the MEICA management team to provide mentoring and support to all members of the project team.
• Challenge others to develop as leaders whilst serving as a role model.
• Manage the development of the allocated junior members of the team.
• Embrace innovation and new ways of working.
Client relationship:-
• Develop lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties and support the long term business plan.
• Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions.
• Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
• Build a knowledge base of client’s business, systems and objectives.
This is a contract role for the first 14 weeks (£350 per day, inside IR35) with a view to be taken on permanently by the client.
