Aqua-Tech Recruitment are working with a leading engineering company based in the South-East of England who have an immediate requirement for a Mechanical Supervisor.
Job Function:
Responsible and accountable for the co-ordination of several allocated, predominantly Mechanical projects in a range of values and complexity. All projects to be undertaken to an agreed cost, scope, and programme.
Predominantly working on the South East MEICA framework working within the water industry (Environment Agency). Working direct for the client within existing MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation) framework agreements.
Role will be a working Supervisor, completing both 6 monthly PPM tasks and supervising sub-contractors delivering project works on our behalf as Principal Contractor.
Responsibilities:
• General Mechanical duties
• Typical equipment to be worked on are water control assets such as River Control Gates, Penstocks, Pumping stations, Radial Gates, and Sluice Gates
• Installation of mechanical equipment such as pumps, Archimedean screws, drive units, bearings etc.
• Fitting of steel support systems and screens.
• Fault finding on mechanical equipment.
• Works can be varied and at times may be required to undertake other duties such as assisting an Electrician or Civils engineer.
• Responsibility for the use of a company van.
• Will work away from home on occasions when travelling is not in the best interest of the company, (this will tend to be Monday – Friday, weekends back home). Accommodation and meal allowance provided by the company.
• Implement all the company’s rules or procedures within the Health and Safety Policy that are appropriate to the activities being undertaken.
• Understand and sign onto all CPP/RAMS on Site and follow Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments.
• Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements and rules on Site.
• Must be a “team player” and always think Safety in mind to look after yourself and your colleagues.
• Will be required to offer a 24/7 call out function for 1 week in 4.
Competence Profile:
• CSCS Card holder
• Lifting operations qualified (CPCS) (Desirable)
• First Aid (Desirable)
• Health and Safety trained (SMSTS, IOSH Desirable)
Experience:
• Preference given to someone with knowledge and experience of installations and asset maintenance at Water Authority sites and Environment Agency locations, in both clean and wastewater situations.
• Must be disciplined and respectful at all times of client confidentiality and environmental awareness.
